Super focused READERS!

We have had some super focused readers in Room 18 this week!

Check out the King Shrimps, who started reading a short novel on the tragedy of Mount Vesuvius this week. They spent 30 minutes discussing everything they had read so far and the impact the volcano eruption would have on the community. They had some outstanding ideas about what they would have done differently and what they would do to help after the eruption.

Check out the Hammerhead Sharks, who are working hard to run their own group reading sessions using the 5 Bits. They are working to become super self managing learners! Great work Hammerhead Sharks, keep it up!

Book Fair Visit

Today we went to the INCREDIBLE Scholastic Book Fair. It was filled with many wonderful new and exciting books.

We all wrote our own wishlists of books and other items that we think we would like to save up our money to buy.

Be sure to visit the fair between 2.45pm and 3.30pm every afternoon for some great deals!

Also be sure to check out the AMAZING tent that Room 18 built for the display.

Welcome back to Term 3!

Welcome back! I hope you all had a well rested holiday and managed to stay dry and warm through all the storms!

This term is VERY busy! We have lots of awesome learning experiences coming up such as Book Week, Maori Language Week, Food for Thought Nutritionist visit, Touch Canterbury coaching and more.

We also have lots of upcoming events such as Cultural Festival, Book Week Costume Day, Winter Sports Tournament and more.

And of course, this term's big change, is welcoming our new Principal, Mrs Sue Elley, into our Belfast whanau. We've loved meeting her this week and having her out in the playground getting to know us.

We are looking forward to a busy but exciting Term 3! Watch this space for more :)

Wizarding Week Term 2

This week we explored the wonderful world of Wizards! We learnt about famous wizards such as Merlin, we learnt how to write a recipe for a magical potion, we created our own wizard characters, we choreographed our own wand movements, performed magic tricks to our buddy class, learnt and did different science experiments and made magical SLIME!

We learnt heaps and had so much fun creating a MAGICAL ending to the term.
