Explanation writing...

We have been learning how to write an explanation. We have learnt how to use time words, topic words, connectives (because, so that) and have been practicing our capital letters and full stops.

This week, we learnt how bees make honey. We watched a video that showed the bee getting nectar then taking it back to its hive, where it places it in a cell. Then we wrote our own explanations of how bees make honey. To celebrate our excellent writing, we made honey sandwiches with honey that was fresh from the hive!

Starry, Starry Night.....

We have been learning all about different brush strokes, how to make shades and tints and about the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh.

We looked very carefully at one of his paintings "The Starry Night", then used our different brush stroke techniques to create our own versions.

Here are some photos of us working on  our masterpieces...

Writing with Mrs McNicholl....

We have been learning how to write Senses poems. This is a poem that describes how something tastes, smells, looks, sounds and feels. We wrote about eating an apple, and we even got to try a juicy apple too!
